Are you an Earth Listener too?
Updated: Sep 14
I came across the word 'Duine' the other week. I was looking for a word that described what I do a bit better. Duine is a Gaelic word that means something like Earth Dweller. It also felt like being close to the earth is a way of listening to the earth more truly too. It fits like a glove! This is the practice I follow, closely following and coming closer to the conversations in the earth, and I help gather others who are developing practices of listening with the earth too.
When we practice listening with the earth we come back into balance and care with the earth. Previously undetected realms (for our current human prevailing systems) begin to take place on our maps. This to me is the simplicity of this practice. It listens, it includes and then it helps us to move forwards together for the good of something more universally positive and healing.
I see the intuitive practices of the earth dwelling human not as being ancient, but simply as being innate. These practices of shamanic inclusion evolve with the times and they have different shapes and ways, just like art movements and cultural movements evolve and have different shapes and ways. It is what makes them relevant. That's why I have always called my Practitioner trainings Creative Shamanism because it is the creative and innate pulse of this way of listening and responding that gives the practice a shape today. If we call Shamanism ancient or label it with a title from another time, my own guidance is that we limit its effectiveness to listen in the now and see what the earth and the spirits of the times are guiding us to do. For me as an educator and facilitator, it is important for people to feel free to listen and find a shape in their own ways alongside listening to the earth.
I have a few ways of accessing the shamanic and constellations for the earth work over this next month or two in Fife. Come and be an Earth Listener with us!
I have an Earth Listener Autumn Retreat (25 - 27 September) - led by the mountains! This can be a shamanic realm opener as well as an intro to the constellations for the earth practice.
Then I have the monthly shamanic community training - Earth is Calling: Led by the Elements in person meetings over 9 months - the course work begins 23 September. It is like a drumming and writing/creative group with Earth consciousness through rivers, mountains, winds and passion!
The Year 2 in person of the Constellation training begins in September. So if you have taken 4 or 5 of the first modules get in touch as I am gathering a group to finalise the other two dates for the training.
If you are interested in the Year 1 training that continues through the next year here is the link:
We are at the Garden Studio, Kilgour Estate, Falkland, Fife. The earth and the community await you!
