LED BY THE ELEMENTS

I am writing this as the rain drenches the earth. We are seated in the garden studio at Kilgour House and the creative retreat is almost over. Each of us prepares a piece to offer at our end of the Bardic Retreat Ceilidh. My soul is full of rivers, mountains, full moon and fire. I look around me and the land feels held by sentinels that I have come to know as giants: the guardians of the vertical pathways between earth and sky; between earth frequencies and the higher dimensions.

It has been a weekend of listening to what is needing balance. It has been three days of listening to the creative force within and tending to the needs of our instrumental soul. To be an earth listener and a restorer of a multidimensional communicating system is to be a carefully attentive human who gives permission for their own ways and meanwhile opens doors to be able to adapt to a way of being that can begin to sense the many voices and expressions of our beautiful wearth and its parallel realms.

This morning I was the waters of the earth in a mummers play we created together in the moment, hosting connections with the member of the earth community that each of our bardic souls called in. This afternoon I feel a greater understanding for the watery forces of the earth. This is in many ways with thanks to skilful channelling by my fellow mummers team. The Bard expressed their inability to hear or understand the language of the beings of the earth. The butterful song was in the end the one the bard was able to begin to heed and that opened their heart. The waters were ferocious and intent on not letting the human bard imagine that they were separate for them. They shifted to becoming corry vreckan the Cailleach's whirl pool and then flowed back into the river that wanted to find the sea. They settled as lobster and the story is to be continued.

This in the moment performing of mummers plays has been practiced for centries on these lands, where mummers would travel around, channelling the archetypes and taking their stories through homes, cleaning and humming as they worked, or performing their acts on moon lit stages through the glens and the villages. How brilliant to bring this alive today and feel the reflective possibilities of this ancient and new practice.

I feel how childlike and wondrous and deeply connecting with nature this whole weekend has been. In many ways I don't want it to stop, but I know it is time to return to the world and do something with what my bardic soul is finding. Being led by the elements and attuning to the conversations in our earth, putting one foot in front of the other and listening deeply and with readiness to act and bring a flow to enabling an expression that goes way beyond the human is where we need to go in life.
